Locked up

little pickle and I, along with some friends visited a castle that is also a prison. it was such fun hearing about stories of royal escape and criminal activity. Seeing that the prison is now a very posh hotel was ultra cool, we acted confident as though we were staying there, and gained access to the main block , we felt like treasure hunters!

the pleasures of camping

Amazing location

with our own fire pit; feels like living in the stone ages

spending afternoons building dens

and evenings watching flames

on the way back to our camp, with the wind turbine in the distance

finding unusual objects

and seeing beautiful colours

We had a lovely time, feeling at one with nature, living in a more natural time without reliance on technology.
Feel relaxed and recharged; ready to face the world again.
And now the washing machine is in overdrive!

A sculpture on the theme of 'metal', I love it- it has the periodic table song printed on the left which I love and have used often in lessons. This one is dedicated to Tim, who is greatly missed. (and thanks mum for letting me have this one!)

A melon salad that I shared with little pickle at lunch today. She declares watermelon as the bestest ever.

Lovely colours in my fruit bowl.

My view while waiting at the doctors today. I was there quite a while.

My fair lady - with rings on her fingers and bells on her toes.

what is a dimension?

So what is the difference between 2d and 3d mummy? And what does 1d look like? And how come we can see things in 4d like the new smurfs movie?
Such are the random questions of a 6 year old, and I struggled to find answers or examples for some of these!
Saw lots of teasels and dragonflies in a quarry walk though. Feel nicely worn out!

why purple hats?

I have always admired this poem as a way to see older age as not just graceful, but also carefree and fun!
It's by jenny joseph

When I am an old woman I shall wear purple
With a red hat which doesn't go, and doesn't suit me.
And I shall spend my pension on brandy and summer gloves
And satin sandals, and say we've no money for butter.
I shall sit down on the pavement when I'm tired
And gobble up samples in shops and press alarm bells
And run my stick along the public railings
And make up for the sobriety of my youth.
I shall go out in my slippers in the rain
And pick flowers in other people's gardens
And learn to spit.

You can wear terrible shirts and grow more fat
And eat three pounds of sausages at a go
Or only bread and pickle for a week
And hoard pens and pencils and beermats and things in boxes.

But now we must have clothes that keep us dry
And pay our rent and not swear in the street
And set a good example for the children.
We must have friends to dinner and read the papers.

But maybe I ought to practice a little now?
So people who know me are not too shocked and surprised
When suddenly I am old, and start to wear purple.

a new first chance

trying out new styles!
my butterfly

Wow, well here I am.
Firstly an introduction
i am a married 37 year old with a lovely 6 3/4 old daughter, who is currently desperate to go bike riding. she has just about picked it up, but is struggling uphill. I have told her, if you can cycle up the hill to the park, we can go to the park. Now she is ready with helmet on and I am still drinking my coffee! Can you tell it is school holidays?
I work fulltime, I enjoy baking and reading and would like to exercise more, well truthfully any exercise would be good.
Secondly my plans for this blog
I wanted a place where I could jot down thoughts about my life, and the things that my family do; both normal everyday things, and special events, as well as share my creative side which has been hidden for too long - as being a wife, mother and full time worker often leave little time for personal creativity!
Well thats me, I look forward to meeting you!
